Vision & Mission
History
In 1999, something special began. Thanks to the generosity of Father Tom Day and led by Judith Hinchman and a host of generous advocates, students streamed down the stairs to the basement of St. Paul’s Basilica in Regent Park for their first music lessons. Some were boisterous. Some were quiet and reserved. But each of those students was about to experience something amazing. From those humble beginnings, Community Music Schools of Toronto has gone on to impact the lives of thousands of young people in Regent Park, Jane and Finch and across Toronto.
With the passionate support of so many friends over the years we are now reaching over 700 kids in the city. But our goal remains exactly the same as it was in 1999…to give young people a great music education and to build their confidence and aspirations so that they not only graduate high school but also go on to university and college to pave the way for a bright, bold future.
